I founded Tommoco Limited in late 2014 to provide tailored business support services to companies in the automotive sector. My aim has always been to help businesses navigate challenges, achieve success, and grow by leveraging my extensive industry experience and broad network of contacts.
I began my career as an electro-mechanical engineering apprentice with Ford Motor Company. After gaining valuable technical expertise, I took a different path for a few years, working in customer service and project management roles at Barclays Bank. However, in 1999, I returned to the automotive sector and joined Lotus Cars, where I became part of their engineering consultancy business.
During my 13 years at Lotus, I worked with an impressive portfolio of vehicle manufacturers, technology developers, and suppliers across the UK, Europe, the USA, and Japan. My responsibilities included securing paid consultancy projects, leading technology and platform licensing discussions, and managing strategic supplier relationships with companies like Toyota, Aston Martin, JLR, Volvo, Renault, PSA, Honda, Nissan, GM, Ford, Hyundai-Kia and Triumph Motorcycles. I also developed high-profile collaborative consortium projects with JLR and Nissan.
In 2012, I joined the newly formed Caterham Technology and Innovation team, where I focused on developing third-party consultancy opportunities. This role allowed me to cultivate strategic relationships with companies in the UK, Europe, and Japan. Notably, I negotiated with Suzuki Motor Company to secure the supply of the K6A engine and driveline for the highly successful Caterham Seven 160 model. By late 2014, I was ready to take on a new challenge and established Tommoco Limited to offer my expertise, services, and network to clients independently.
Since its inception, Tommoco Limited has provided a diverse range of services to the automotive sector. Between 2015 and 2020, I was the project management lead for the design, development, and testing of the exclusive ‘DLS’ supercar project on behalf of California-based Singer Vehicle Design. This role involved coordinating inputs from a network of technology partners and suppliers across the UK, Europe, and the USA.
In parallel, I provided business development and market study services to a variety of OEMs and suppliers, including Caterham Cars, Mirus Aircraft Seating, Williams Advanced Engineering, Automotive Design Partnership, and Lydall Inc.
Since 2020, my focus has shifted to supporting the UK niche vehicle sector, supplying programme leadership on behalf of Cenex. I’ve also been involved with the Advanced Propulsion Centre and Innovate UK, providing project monitoring support for a wide range of R&D projects. These initiatives have covered single- and multi-party collaborations, encompassing various technologies and applications. I continue to maintain a wide range of industry relationships at seniormanagement and board level, providing independent consultancy services.
With my extensive experience and industry network, I’m here to help your business grow, tackle challenges, and achieve success. Let’s work together to drive your projects forward.
